Mákina de Cena continues at full steam with indoor and outdoor programming

Jazz shows and two theatrical tours mark the activity in March and April After a month and a half of intense preparation for Mákina de Cena’s first theatrical creation in 2023; Journey to the Center of the Earth – a staging by Carolina Santos with André Canário, Ana Beatriz Lopes and Mariana Vitorino – was launched, between March 12th and 18th, on stages in Loulé, with 5 sold-out sessions. After the success of the play, the last weekend of March is expected to be intense, with three different shows in three different cities. Saturday the 25th, at 9.30 pm, at the Associação Recreativa e Cultural de Músicos, in Faro, Marco Martins, artistic co-director of Mákina de Cena and a jazz musician already well known to the Algarve public, performs at Bandas ao Figuras, an initiative of Teatro das Figuras, with Low Profile. In this new project, the composer appears in a quintet format – trumpet, accordion, bass, drums and voice – seeking to explore the limits of jazz sounds, as well as contributing to the creation of new content – combining tradition and contemporaneity – in this musical universe. “Live Music for Water”

Journey to the Center of the Earth, by Mákina de Cena premieres this month in Loulé

In 2023, Mákina de Cena sets out on a Journey to the Center of the Earth! Show inspired by the homonymous work by Jules Verne, premieres next Sunday in Loulé. Inspired by the classic by Jules Verne, Journey to the Center of the Earth, it is the brand new theatrical creation by Mákina de Cena, with its debut scheduled for this month of March. The new show by the Algarve structure will premiere next Sunday, March 12, at Solar da Música Nova in Loulé, with a double session at 10:00 am and 11:30 am, as part of the program of Cenários – Mostra de Teatro de Loulé. The premiere is followed by a 3-day season also in Loulé – this time, at Casa da Mákina. The shows will take place from Thursday to Saturday: the 16th and 17th, at 7 pm and the 6th at 3:30 pm. Also in March, on World Theater Day, the Voyage to the Center of the Earth will make its first foray out of doors. “Spotify – How to increase streams”

On the last Sunday of the month, the 26th, there will be a workshop dedicated essentially to independent musicians under the title “Spotify – How to increase streams”. A partnership between the band “Plasticine”, the newly created publishing house “Moreia Eléctrica” and the bar “Lionheart” will promote the event that will allow musicians and other interested parties to attend for free, thus having contact with some of the most common marketing practices within of this theme. The workshop, which will take place at 3 pm via a digital platform, will be conducted by Plasticine’s marketing manager, Mafalda Johannsen. Castro Marim with free Wi-Fi in the main public spaces of the county

As part of its modernization and technological innovation strategy, the Municipality of Castro Marim has provided, since the end of 2022, a free network of Wi-Fi access points in the main centers of public life – Castro Marim ON. The initiative results from the establishment of the convention “WiFi4EU Promotion of Internet connectivity in local communities”, between the Municipality of Castro Marim and the Executive Agency for Innovation and Networks (INEA). The municipality bears the connection costs (subscription for Internet access) and equipment maintenance and offers free high-quality wireless connectivity for a minimum period of three years. With this initiative, the European Commission intends to promote free wireless connectivity (Wi-Fi) in public spaces throughout Europe, namely in parks, squares, public buildings, libraries, health centers and museums. Hotspots were installed in Altura (Praceta Prof. Luís Amaro, Rotunda 24 Junho and Mercado Municipal), Azinhal (Largo), Odeleite (Casa de Odeleite) and Castro Marim (Praça 1º de Maio, Revelim de St. António, West Zone, City Hall, City Library, Local Market, Casa do Sal). On site, to access it, just look for the WiFi4EU network and click on connect, without the need to register.

Documentary Arts Workshop in Castro Marim

As part of the artistic curatorship of Companhia Teatro do Vestido, partner of the Particular Universal project, Castro Marim will host, from February 13th to 17th, the Documentary Arts Workshop “Rescue Memories, Inscribe Memories”. Teatro do Vestido has been observing, listening and studying in the municipality of Castro Marim since March 2022. Seeking to map the territory, the people and their stories, the Company wishes to contribute to a community archive of “small and forgotten” memories, accompanying the efforts of local associations in this regard. The “Rescue Memories, Inscribe Memories” training is part of this project to contribute to artistic self-reflection on the territory. Over five days, at the Municipal Library of Castro Marim and after work hours, the Teatro do Vestido team, accompanied by historian Alice Samara, will monitor the works and support the development of artistic objects, inspired by ethnographic observation, collection of life stories, objects, documents or memories. The training shares with the participants various methodologies and tools used by Teatro do Vestido in its artistic creation practice over the last 20 years, namely in the field of documentary theatre, accompanied by a theoretical and practical incursion into the methodologies of oral history.
