A fun and competitive event exclusively for popular non-federated athletes. The Álvaro de Campos Municipal Library hosts, on January 6th, at 3:30 pm, the cycle “Slices of Poetry” by Ana Teresa Andrade. The session, aimed at children between 6 and 12 years old, lasting approximately 45 minutes, promotes the reading and discussion of poems by different authors. A journey around the work of writers such as Miguel Torga, Luísa Ducla Soares, António Gedeão, José Jorge Letria, Alberto Caeiro, Helder Moura Pereira and others. Throughout these activities, children have the opportunity to debate the content of the poems and reflect on their meaning – the objective is to stimulate creativity in writing and encourage reading habits of different content. A formation of Saint Dominic’s Gospel Choir will take the stage at Silves Alegria do Natal on January 6th, at 6pm, with the interpretation of various songs from the season, such as “Santa Claus is comin’ to Town” or “Oh Happy Day” . Founded and led by João Castro, Saint Dominic’s Gospel Choir surpassed the mark of 1200 concerts throughout its 20-year career in 2022, with different performances throughout the country and also gained notoriety with regular appearances on Portuguese television and by following the best-known artists on the national scene. Founded on October 7, 2002, it quickly became the largest and most prestigious Gospel choir to be born in Portugal, deserving of the best appreciation from Gospel legends such as: Rev. Milton Biggham, Ricky Dillard and Kirk Franklin; even during the pandemic, he was present at GMWA – Gospel Music Workshop of America, the most prestigious conference in the Gospel industry with the theme The Best Days rearranged and recorded, remotely, with each participant and with Gospel singer Shantell Hankerson. The formation that will perform in Silves is made up of eight members, who will bring a lot of excitement and the musicality so characteristic of gospel.
