“Future Past” Exhibition by Maria Renée Morales Lam Curated by João Moniz Convent of Espírito Santo Art Gallery, Loulé opening 17 december 18h00 Does the street become more mine the more I observe it and the more I use it? The work of Maria Renée Morales Lam presents a physical-material and imaginary journey through the city, showing evidence of an intimate relationship between the past and matter, where the function of the artifact is diluted in the act of contemplation. Architectural components are compiled as samples of a public memory underlying a collective imaginary that, without realizing it, we forcefully distort. The older work invites us to reflect on the way in which history is being preserved – what we choose to protect or forget, and how this influences the construction and accelerated transformation of the contemporary city. In his most recent work, he tries to exalt the presence and corporeality of city ornaments forgotten in everyday life. “As an incessant effort to belong somewhere, I draw an invisible map of my daily path, reformulating these symbols that represent moments, objects, places and situations, in an attempt to reconcile my own history in a territory that until recently was unknown. Christmas Carols in the Library On December 17th, there will be “Contos de Natal”, by Bruno Batista, at the Manuel Teixeira Gomes Municipal Library. The first session will be “Let’s help Santa Claus”, at 4 pm, for children (3/5 years old). Distributing gifts to all the children of the world is a very difficult task for an already old man like Santa Claus. What if we helped you? Come watch this story session and find out how to do it. At 21:00, it will be time to share “Night of Warm and Cozy Stories”. In the warmth of words, there are sweet and tender stories with a Christmas flavor! A night of short stories, by the voice of narrator Bruno Batista, to warm hearts. Recipients: general public, with children from 6 years old Bruno Batista is from the Algarve, is 43 years old and has a degree in Cultural Animation and Community Education. His work is divided between representation, storytelling, book mediation, Sociocultural Animation and training. At Christmas, there are stories to hear and share in his Library. SÃO MARCOS DA SERRA RECEIVES THE THEATER SHOW “O HOMEM DO FOGO” The Municipality of Silves promotes the show “O HOMEM DO FOGO”, on the 17th of December, at 5 pm at the Sociedade de Recreio e Instrução de São Marcos da Serra. ‘Don’t Play with Fire’ is a project launched by the Ministry of Culture and AGIF, in 2020, which has the support of the Regional Directorates of Culture and aims, through the arts, to raise awareness of populations to change risk behaviors in the face of rural fires and promote the enhancement and protection of territories. In fire prevention we are all on the scene. Don’t miss this show! +ABOUT: “O HOMEM DO FOGO” is a multidisciplinary show that uses animation with sand, music and words to convey a message of prevention and care for people and forests. Created from a traditional Chinese tale, this story transports us to the beginning of time, when time was not yet time, when Man was created and fire was discovered.
