They are, in fact, more than “100 Memories of Castro Marim”, a collection of letters, photographs, postcards, documents, books and many other memorabilia that were left to the new Digital Archive of the city hall, contributing to the construction of a new look about Castro’s cultural and social identity. The “100 Memories” project was born at the end of 2019, with a challenge launched to the population to give these personal and / or family memories to the Municipality. Inspired by the need to preserve, treat and disseminate Castro Marim’s historical documentation, Castro Marim’s autarchy built a chronologically contextualized narrative, which allows not only a rescue of the past, but also the construction of a new meaning about it. In the digital archive you can search and consult the documentation held by the Municipality of Castro Marim. This documentation is part of the collection with an extensive documentary volume, so the database will be periodically loaded and updated. Thus, the community is appealed to continue to contribute to this estate, sending their memories, by loan or donation, via email 100memorias@cm-castromarim.pt. In this dive into individual and fragmented memories, an audiovisual survey was also carried out on the intangible heritage of […]

EXHIBITION 8 APRIL – 3 JULY 2021 LÍGIA OLIVEIRA BETWEEN LAND AND SEA BETWEEN THE SEA AND THE SHORE Biography Lígia Oliveira grew up surrounded by the tranquility of the landscapes of southern Portugal, which have inspired her ever since. She initially studied Product Design, and later obtained a PhD in Urban Design in Barcelona, where she had the experience of working in various disciplines and cultures. This helped Oliveira to develop a broader approach to art, by understanding the physical space and its elements, its relationship with other disciplines and to train the eye for details at different scales. Fascinated by the possibilities of expression and investigation of art, with her work Oliveira intends to touch, inform and inspire emotionally for an integrated relationship with nature. Multiplying the elements until they form patterns fascinates her, as well as finding new ways to interact with each other, in a balance between discipline and freedom of expression. These repetitive sequences transform the painting process into a tranquilizing and meditative act. Oliveira was a professor at the University of Porto and a researcher at the University of Barcelona. She is the author of several scientific articles, co-author of the book The Economy […]

BLUE BOW CAMPAIGN April 1st to 30th Location: Lagos Municipality Org .: CPCJ – Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth of Lagos The Blue Ribbon Campaign started in 1989 in Virginia, USA, when a grandmother, Bonnie W. Finney, tied a blue ribbon to her car’s antenna as a way of alerting the curious who questioned her about the ills. treatments suffered by his granddaughter, who had already brutally killed his grandson. Why blue? Because, despite being a beautiful color, Bonnie Finney did not want to forget the beaten and bruised bodies of her two grandchildren. Blue would serve as a constant reminder of her struggle to protect children from abuse. This story, in addition to demonstrating how the concern of a single citizen had an effect on awakening the consciences of the general public, became universal, giving rise to a campaign for the Prevention of Child Abuse, to which the National Commission for Promotion of the Rights and Protection of Children and Youth (at national level) and the Commission for the Protection of Children and Youth in Lagos (at the local level) have come together, with the aim of raising awareness of the care and protection of children.
