The third week of September is the time chosen by Mákina de Cena to start the cycle of workshops to support theatrical creation integrated in colecTA 23. After the workshop “The Actor and Neutrality”, guided by Nuno Pino Custódio, which marked the In the first phase of the creation of this project, three new training proposals follow to add human resources to what will be an ambitious and collective creation, with numerous partners and entities involved.
The Stage Lighting Workshop – The Invisible Light, guided by Mafalda Oliveira, kicks off this training offer and will take place between the 19th and 21st of September from 5pm to 9pm at the IPDJ facilities in Faro.
During these 3 days, the basics and general concepts of lighting work in theater will be covered and registration is open to all interested parties. In a second phase, in October, at Teatro Lethes, also in Faro, a second module of this training will take place, aimed at participants who wish to deepen their knowledge of design and lighting techniques, taking advantage of the creation process of colecTA’23.
With more than 20 years of activity, Mafalda Oliveira develops lighting design, sound design and technical direction in the areas of theater, music, contemporary dance and visual arts, having, throughout her career, collaborated with companies and festivals such as: Festival Temps d’image, Teatro das Beiras, Marionetas de Mandrágora, Companhia da Chanca, among many others.
The training offer continues in October with two more workshops. The first of which – Scenography and Costume Workshop – will take place at Casa da Mákina in Loulé between the 11th and 13th of October. The workshop will take place after work hours, from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and will be guided by Patrícia Raposo, a professional who adds to her CV as a theater costume designer, extensive experience as a television costume assistant, prop designer and scenographer, having collaborated with companies such as The Bando Theater Group, the Almada Theater Company or ESTE – Estação Teatral.

Starting from a more theoretical and conceptual approach to these disciplines, this action will cover the entire process of plastic conception of a show, from creation to implementation and presentation, addressing issues such as: the body and space, the relationship between Actor, space and spectator and how scenography influences this dialogue; as well as the Actor’s relationship with costumes and character creation.
This training cycle is completed with a Cultural Production workshop guided by Pedro Silva, Professor of Cultural Management, Cultural Policies and Cultural Programming and Production at the Escola Superior de Educação do Politécnico do Porto and with extensive experience in the cultural area – he was executive producer at Guimarães 2012, European Capital of Culture and production director at the Cultural Cooperative “A Oficina, Centro de Artes e Mesteres Tradicionais de Guimarães”.
Aimed at professionals from cultural institutions such as Theatres, Associations and Companies, Municipal Councils, Parish Councils and similar entities, this workshop will take place on 3 different dates: October 9th and 10th at Teatro Lethes in Faro, between 5:30 pm and 10:30 pm; October 11th and 12th in Lagoa and October 30th and 31st in Lagos – both with location and time to be confirmed.
