For the fourth year, the biggest and craziest MG Bearing Cart Race takes place again at Rua Francisco Bivar, in Vila da Mexilhoeira Grande, Portimão, on April 30th and May 1st, 2022. After the huge success of the previous editions, which had 90 rolling carts, around 4000 people watched and applauded the riders who went down the street in their handcrafted bolides.
The 4th edition, organized by CIRM (Clube de Instrução e Recreação Mexilhoeirense) and the Parish Council of Mexilhoeira Grande, already has 30 sponsors, the main ones being Sagres, Restinga Restaurant, Rádio Alvor and Rádio Solar! In the organization, the same group of enthusiasts that in 2017 launched the motto to relive their childhood.
The classification has 4 distinct categories, due to the diversity/creativity of cars, Traditional, Allegorical, Children’s and General, which, relying on the force of gravity, these vehicles built by themselves in any material, in the format and with the decoration that understand, always respecting the Regulation provided by the organization, will leave many marks on the tar of the village to reach a place on the podium.
The organization also has a social action, where the profit obtained from the Race, reverts to a charity action, given to the PuPa Association (IPO pediatrics) and Lar Bom Samaritano.
The main venue of the event will have all the conditions so that the family can enjoy a variety of activities and enjoy a wide variety of food and drinks. Local businesses will be open on the day of the Great Race, May 1st.
