The Alte Carnival, considered the most traditional in the Algarve, will be celebrated online, in a special 5-hour broadcast broadcast on a multiplatform, allowing interactive contact with the spectators, who will thus also be participants.
The Alte Carnival, being one of the oldest in the Algarve, is rich in stories, satire, revelry, dancers, masked dances, traditions and a lot of humor. It has been held in Alte for over 100 years. This broadcast will cover this century of history, sharing videos, photos and interviews with many of those responsible, both for the organization and for the groups of revelers and floats.
As a result of a joint organization of the Parish Council of Alte and the Municipality of Loulé, the live broadcast will begin by telling the story of the Alte Carnival, through testimonies by the participants, videos and photos, allowing to know Carnival in its beginnings and its evolution.
We will discover the development of car construction techniques (from old beast cars to current tractors and vehicles), the social satire always present in the choice of themes and the tradition of community involvement. The recording of this first part will allow the creation of an audiovisual record whose information will be accessible to future generations.
In a second moment, there will be an interactive ball animated by Emanuel Martins and Válter Cabrita with the particularity of those who watch it being able to send photos and videos from their homes that will be broadcast in real time.
The broadcast will take place from the Casa do Povo de Alte, where only the elements of the technical team, the presenter and the musicians will be subjected to rapid tests by covid19 on the morning of the event.
