Banana Being is the third work in a trilogy in which I propose to explore the body’s excessive or obsessive relationship with specific materials. In this proposal the relationship will be established with bunches of bananas that cover and transform the figure of a man. This hybrid body, manipulated by matter, places the performer in a voluntary relationship with the monstrosity, keeping the human aspect encapsulated within it.
This piece is made up of 3 moments. In the first moment equivalent to a prologue, the audience witnesses the preparation and installation of Banana Being with the help and mastery of a shibari artist.
In the second moment we witness the maintenance, expansion and destruction of the figure. It is the cathartic moment of this apparently monstrous being that asserts its deformed, sculptural, imposing body, until its self-destruction.
In the third moment and as an epilogue, the public is then invited to stay for a celebration. An after-party with the presence of a DJ and a bartender, where drinks and appetizers are made with bananas – an act of collective anthropophagy.
