National Choro Day, one of the oldest popular music genres in the world in activity, will be celebrated at the 3rd Casa do Choro Festival with a free and virtual musical marathon from April 19 to 23. Training workshops and shows by Luciana Rabello, Cristóvão Bastos, Mauricio Carrilho, Jayme Vignoli, Rui Alvim, Pedro Aragão and Paulo Aragão, among other big names in instrumental music, will be broadcast through the Casa Do Choro Digital platform.
The program starts with instrument lessons in the morning and classes in the afternoon on group practice (free of charge) in the form of workshops ranging from the main orchestras to the history of percussion, compositions and arrangements for bringing musicians together in choro. The concerts, also free, have an extensive program, a show with the current production of new composers and a tribute to Dominguinhos – who would turn 80 – and the centenary of the composer, conductor and multi-instrumentalist Zé Menezes.
The 3rd Casa do Choro Festival also takes the crowded circles to the instagram of @casadochoro, with live transmission. The event is sponsored by the Federal Government, State Government of Rio de Janeiro, State Secretary of Culture and Creative Economy of Rio de Janeiro, through the Aldir Blanc Law.
