Coral Ideias do Levante (Lagoa, Algarve) was founded in 1996. Initially conducted by conductor Ricardo Carvalho, it is in January 1998, under the artistic direction of prof. José Carlos Bago d’Uva that the group starts to work based on a renewed concept of “pedagogy of choral singing”. The Choir, during its existence, was directed by Francisco Brazão (2003-2016) and Maria Saramago (2012). He performed in several points of the Iberian Peninsula and organizes several events throughout the year, especially the Coral Week of Lagoa. Coral Ideias do Levante aims at the technical and artistic progression of the group, and parallel cultural promotion of the Municipality of Lagoa and the Region through polyphonic choral music. It interprets a very eclectic repertoire as a means of pedagogical intervention and audience formation.
