Clown and Comic Workshop | Eva Ribeiro //
[Warm-up – Inserted in the schedule of Festival Contrapeso #3]
Wishing to be an open laboratory for exploring possible paths to “being in a state of grace”, in this workshop we will seek to unveil the elements that guide the art of the clown. Let’s see ourselves as players who create moving images and investigate through exploration with and for each other and have the most fun while we do it.
We will play games and exercises in groups, in pairs and in trios where we will work on our energy, our focus and our listening, developing a way of playing where we don’t think but where we connect with a deeper feeling and allow ourselves to go beyond our everyday limits. We will explore the mechanisms that make an audience laugh and what makes us funny, in a unique and singular way, when we allow ourselves to enjoy having fun by being funny. In the last part of the course, the focus will be on creating small clown “moments” or “sketches” in the room or on the street. This workshop provides space to learn, discover, identify obstacles and overcome them, play, laugh, and experience the incredible power of honest connection. It is aimed at all people interested in discovering their comic side and embracing their ridiculousness and making something creative out of it.
