“Teixeira Gomes and the music that gave him peace” is the title of the concert on December 17th, which will take place from 6 pm at Casa Manuel Teixeira Gomes Gomes, with Laura Quaresma and Bárbara Santos.
Laura Quaresma, piano player, was born in 1996 and is from Faro. She started her piano studies at the age of six, at the Portimão Music Conservatory Joly Braga Santos. She also studied with the pianist Álvaro Teixeira Lopes, having finished her Degree in Music (Piano Performance) and her Master’s in Music Teaching, both from the University of Aveiro. She attended several technical and interpretation courses with pianists such as Olga Prats, Fausto Neves, António Rosado, Serghei Covalenko, among others.
She has participated in several national and international piano competitions and received several distinctions throughout her career. She currently teaches at the Music Conservatory of Loulé-Francisco Rosado as Accompanying Pianist Professor and maintains projects related to classical and light music, also working as a freelance musician.
On the cello will be Bárbara Santos, who began her studies at ARTAVE, with Professor Katerina Mikusova. She completed a Degree in Cello, with Professor Clélia Vital, and a Masters in Music Teaching, at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa. In 2014 and 2015 she performed solo with Orquestra Sinfónica da ESML. In 2014 she obtained the 2nd Young Musicians Prize in Chamber Music, higher level, with the AllaBreve Quartet. She attended cello masterclasses with: Claudio Bohórquez, Tsuyoshi Tsutsumi, Marc Coppey, Daniel Grosgurin, Ferhan Grosgurin, Levon Mouradian, among others. She currently teaches at the Music Conservatory of Loulé-Francisco Rosado.
The concert program includes: Sonata in F F M, Op. 1, n.º1, by Benedetto Marcello, Lied ohne Worte, by Felix Mendelssohn, Vocalise, by Sergei Rachmaninov, Cello Sonata in G minor, Op. 65, by Frédéric Chopin, among other compositions and authors.
