On January 7th, Sunday, the Municipality of Faro will celebrate the entry into the new year and the arrival of Three Kings Day, with a concert performed by the Cancioneiro of the Faro Folklore Group.
The show, with free entry, will take place in the imposing Igreja da Sé, at 6:30 pm, and will provide visitors with a unique musical moment, which will close the activities of the Christmas season.
The traditional “Concerto de Reis” will begin with a performance by the Songbook of the Faro Folkloric Group, a project formed in 2000 to give voice to traditional themes from the Algarve that, as they are not danced, are not included in the repertoire of folkloric groups. This combines the corridos and round dances already played and danced by the group, the songs about field work and fishing, the romances, the songs of Christmas, Janeiras and Reis. The Cancioneiro participates in traditional singing meetings throughout the country and abroad and is currently made up of around 25 members, who are dressed in accordance with the uses and customs of the Algarve at the end of the 19th century and beginning of the 20th century.
