The exhibition “Between fishing and weaving lines” will open at 5pm on September 9th, at the Museu de Portimão, which brings together a selection of works of different types created by Conceição Abreu, using various techniques, including drawings, sculptures, installations and photographs.
Curated by Sofia Marçal, the exhibition was designed with the purpose of creating, from a contemporary perspective, a dialogue with the Portimão Museum’s ethnographic collection and the history of fishing linked to the city, and can be considered almost a retrospective exhibition, where the lightness of the works on display fits into a poetic narrative expanded over time.
The works, where fishing and weaving lines meet, reflect the artist’s commitment to searching for the limits of materials and materials, realizing them in works of art and giving them immortality, by expanding the idea of perpetuity related to the design of fishing nets.
