The União das Freguesias de Faro, will hold from the 5th to the 9th of April, the 8th edition of the Cheese, Wine and Sausages Fair, which will take place in Jardim Manuel Bivar, in downtown Faro.
As news for this year, the presence of the Azores Region stands out with the famous cheeses of São Jorge (DOP), as well as wines and sausages from several islands of this archipelago. Also noteworthy is the presence of cheeses from the province of Cantabria, northern Spain and the well-known Mahón Cheeses (DOP) made by hand from the island of Menorca (Balearic Islands – Spain) and also their sausages.
The rest of the fair is filled with producers from almost all of the mainland country, highlighting the famous cheeses from Serra da Estrela, Serra da Gardunha, Serpa, Borba and Aldeias de Montoito and, of course, a wide range of wines from regions such as the Algarve, Alentejo, Bairrada, Beira Interior, Dão and Douro. It should be noted that most of the cheeses present have already been awarded in different national and international cheese competitions and tastings, which provides this event with a wide range of genuine and quality products.
During these 5 days of the fair, visitors can also find a wide range of traditional sausages, also very well represented, with emphasis on products from the Baixo Alentejo and the Serras de Monchique, Estrela and Gardunha.
The area of taverns, as in previous years, will be open to the public right at lunchtime, extending its operation uninterruptedly throughout the afternoon and until closing at 23:00. Wine connoisseurs will be able to purchase the glass alluding to the event and browse the stands to taste the different types of wines or take advantage of fair promotions and buy, in addition to bottles, wine by the glass of their favorite brands.
Altogether there will be about three dozen stands that will promote and disseminate the best that is done in the wine, sausages and cheese sector in different regions of Portugal and, for the first time, in Spain.
Opening hours between 12h and 23h, this initiative is free of charge and the public present can also count on some tastings of cheese, sausages and wine.
