FEMEN is a performative solo, of an intimate nature, in search of the subversive transformation of the look on reality, going against new bodily geometries through contemporary circus, new magic and physical theatre.
It incorporates a poetic register with sarcasm, having a strong iconographic inspiration and enjoying a contemporary language. It starts from the concept of the “social frame” elaborated by Judith Butler in Gender Problems, which reflects on the frames as a link to the definition of identity and the sedimentation of gender norms. Femen seeks to question, through the narratives of the body, a place of search and liberation from molds.
In Femen, the body is multiple bodies, confronting their own monsters. From the collective to the individual, from the veiled to the naked, from the social to the political, in a trajectory that marks the submission and rebellion of a body in search of balance and its own identity.
Femen is made up of two complementary parts: a physical performance and a participatory activity. The first consists of actively watching the Femen performance, and the second is an invitation to artistically and collaboratively reflect on identity, through an installation created and deconstructed by the participants.
