The cultural association Ideias do Levante will produce the fourth edition of Convento Levante, during the month of April 2023, bringing a music recital and a poetry recital, to the Centro Cultural Convento de S. José (CCCSJ), in the city of Lagoa (Algarve). For the 2023 edition, ConVento Levante proposes a cultural unrest, bringing music, musicians, poetry and poets, from the Straits of Gibraltar (Spain, Morocco and the United Kingdom) to Sagres (Algarve, Portugal).
The music recital is the result of a partnership between the Municipality of Lagoa (Algarve) and Ideias do Levante – Associação Cultural de Lagoa and translates into a selection of songs about romantic love, jealousy and innocence, broken hearts or playful and carefree tones that intertwine in this intimate recital that spans three centuries of music written for voice and guitar. Carla Pontes, accompanied by Chiqui García, offer a bouquet of pieces of great beauty that represent the symbiosis between the popular and the cult. Human tunes from the Spanish Baroque that were sung in comedy theaters and Spanish Seguidillas from the 19th century of great refinement and beauty, reserved for the salons of the bourgeoisie. The recital is completed with a selection of popular songs by the poet Federico García Lorca. In his texts, the mischievousness, humor and irony typical of the singing cafés of the early 20th century are mixed.
The poetry recital, being a poetic-musical performative act curated by Cobramor, entitled “Evento: Liberdade, will take place on April 29, 2023, at 4:00 pm, in the CCCSJ Auditorium. This recital is the result of a partnership between the Municipality of Lagoa (Algarve), Ideias do Levante – Associação Cultural de Lagoa and the cultural association CAL de Albufeira, which intends, in a sincere and honest way, to provide a small interpretive and declamatory journey , for poetic literature with roots in the south of the Iberian Peninsula, between Sagres and Gibraltar, recited by Carla Moreira and Martim Santos (also known as Lágrima) and accompanied by the musical and original touch of Guilherme Limão.
