João Afonso, a singer with a work greatly influenced by the music and rhythms of Africa, now lends his musicality to a series of Portuguese-speaking poets. Born in Mozambique, he is an admirer of the plural richness of the Portuguese language in the various forms it has been taking in different places around the world. José Afonso’s nephew, he also has a strong influence, including in his repertoire some of Zeca’s compelling songs.
Accompanied by a trio composed of guitars by Miguel Fevereiro and António Pinto and percussions by João Ferreira, a happy meeting of musicians who cross universes
João Afonso’s concert takes us on a journey through the Diaspora and the Portuguese language, in a musicality rich in sounds and sensations.
