The Centro Cultural Convento de S. José, in Lagoa, will host on April 22, at 4 pm, the music recital “𝗟𝗮𝘀 𝗠𝘂𝗷𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘀 𝗬 𝗖𝘂𝗲𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘀” as part of the IV Convento Levante.
Synopsis: The cultural association Ideias do Levante will produce the fourth edition of Convento Levante, during the month of April 2023, bringing a music recital and a poetry recital, to the Centro Cultural Convento de S. José, in the city of Lagoa (Algarve). For the 2023 edition, Convento Levante proposes a cultural unrest, bringing music, musicians, poetry and poets, from the Straits of Gibraltar (Spain, Morocco and the United Kingdom) to Sagres (Algarve, Portugal), in a cultural “uprising”.
This music recital, to take place on April 22, 2023, at 4 pm, in the CCCSJ chapel, is the result of a partnership between the Municipality of Lagoa (Algarve) and Ideias do Levante – Associação Cultural de Lagoa and translates into in a selection of romantic love songs, of jealousy and innocence, of stray hearts or playful and carefree tones that intertwine in this intimate recital that covers three centuries of music written for singing and guitar.
Carla Pontes, accompanied by Chiqui García, offer a bouquet of pieces of great beauty that represent the symbiosis between the popular and the cult. Human tones from the Spanish Baroque that were sung in comedy theaters and Spanish Seguidillas from the 19th century of great refinement and beauty, reserved for the salons of the bourgeoisie. The recital is completed with a selection of popular songs by the poet Federico García Lorca. In his texts, the mischievousness, humor and irony typical of the singing cafés of the early 20th century are mixed.
The concert has free admission although limited to the capacity of the space.
