LOULÉ on the timeline
Based on the main known documents of Loulé – the Charter of 1266, the Minutes of the Council of Loulé – 14th-15th centuries, and the Revenue and Expense Books of Loulé 1375-1518, we seek to draw an overview of the various social groups existing in the municipality in the 13th and 14th centuries (Clergy, Nobility and People), identifying the names that are referenced in these documents, between 1266 and 1408, historically contextualizing the most significant ones, and addressing their functions in the municipal community. It also addresses the situation of the so-called marginalized groups – Moors and Jews, with important communes in Loulé.
