Making its debut in the Algarve, Luísa Sobral presents her new show “DanSando” at the Auditorium Carlos do Carmo, in Lagoa, on the 4th of February, at 7 pm. It will be the second concert of the “DanSando” tour, the first in the Algarve, which will start on the 28th of January in Sesimbra.
Synopsis: Luísa Sobral opens the doors to the solar pop of ‘DanSando’, her sixth album of originals. Produced by Latin Grammy winner Tó Brandileone, the album was recorded between Lisbon and São Paulo.
Lightly exploring the lands of pop, and never losing the jazz tones, ‘DanSando’ is filled with 11 original themes, guided by the need to sing about love. Luísa’s new record adventure is an intimate and personal work, but also socially conscious and involved, bringing together songs that are assumed to be more luminous and in which love is the raw material. An album that the author admits “that I’ve wanted to do for a long time: an ode to life”.
Considered one of the most important singers and songwriters of the new generation of Portuguese musicians, Luísa Sobral debuted in 2011 with ‘The Cherry on My Cake’, followed by ‘There’s A Flower In My Bedroom’ (2013), with guests such as Jamie Cullum, António Zambujo and Mário Laginha, ‘Lu-Pu-I-Pi-Sa-Pa’ (2014) and ‘Luísa’ (2016), produced by Joe Henry (Madonna, Elvis Costello). ‘Rosa’, produced by Raul Refree (Silvia Pères Cruz, Rosalía, Rocío Márquez) arrives in 2018.
Her facet as a composer stands out, composing for artists such as Ana Moura, António Zambujo, Sara Correia, Mayra Andrade, among others. In 2017 she signed ‘Amar Pelos Dois’, a theme interpreted by her brother Salvador Sobral and winner of the Eurovision Song Contest.
She expands her creative horizons again in 2020: she releases a single with the Spanish singer Zahara and premieres ‘O Avesso da Canção’, a podcast about the art of writing songs. The following year, she unveils ‘Camomile’ (2021), a mini-album of lullabies.
In this concert, Luísa will be accompanied on stage by Manuel Rocha on guitar, António Quintino on bass and double bass and Carlos Miguel Antunes on drums.
