At a time when the hardcore panorama in the Algarve was in decline, in 2016 M.E.D.O. appeared, which represented a breath of fresh air in the national punk movement. Current heirs to the FSHC legacy (Faro Style HardCore), and made up of musicians with some years of experience within the national underground movement, the band asserted itself in 2018 as a name to take into account within the most alternative musical styles in Portugal.
In the first two years, they managed to achieve some goals, such as the launch of the 1st album ‘Medocracia’, which contributed to the presence in festivals such as Hell Of a Weekend, Faro Alternativo and Lagoa Rock Fest, among others; a trip to Spain and sharing the stage with bands like Dog Eat Dog (USA), The Casualties (USA), Slapshot (USA), No Turning Back (Netherlands), Knuckledust (United Kingdom), Deez Nuts (Australia), Elephants (France) and Worst (Brazil).
In 2019 they release their 2nd original disc, entitled ‘O Produtos Somos Nós’, from which the singles ‘Somos Nós’ and ‘Tarde Demais’ were extracted at a time when the band consolidated its name at a national level, playing a little for continental territory. 2020 quickly proved to be an atypical year, but even that did not stop the pace and productivity of the farense collective.
During the months of March to May, while the state of emergency was a reality in the national territory, the band composed a new album, via online, whose recordings started during the summer. The album was released in the first quarter of 2021, in a merger between two publishers: Raging Planet, from Lisbon, and Raising Legends, from Porto. The new album, entitled “Monopoly of Violence”, has several luxury guests, on a disc from which two singles have already been extracted: “Música de Embalar” and “Cadáver”, whose public reactions exceeded all expectations and contributed, still more, for the desire to return to the stage of one of the most active bands from Faro in recent years. The dice are rolled.
