Maria Anadon is one of the most important Portuguese jazz singers today, with an enviable national and international career, a crossover voice in several projects, which goes beyond the intricacies of jazz. Maria Anadon has already recorded with our Orchestra, and it is always a renewed pleasure to welcome her. This Concert will have the musical direction of German trombonist Ferdinand Von Seebach, one of the most sought-after names on the Berlin music scene, a musician who also stands out for his compositions and orchestrations. Ferdinand always looked for work in the Theatre, if it weren’t for this being one of the most favorable environments in the History of Jazz: Musicals. Jazz Orchestras also come into play here, thus becoming a complete exercise in music versus words, environment, image, poem, people. For Ferdinand, “music is always a way of expressing something that words may not be able to express, reminding our souls of feelings and stories that we may know, but do not know how to tell.” We will present music in this concert, which Ferdinand wrote for several projects in which he worked with his own Jazz Orchestra, the Fine Arts Big Band, an Orchestra with nine years of existence, and which he founded with drummer Stephan Genze. Ferdinand brings us original compositions, as well as standards, all presented on a special night, with these two big names on stage.
