The second session of the Meetings “THE LIBRARY OF LOST BOOKS. CONVERSAS QUE ARDEM ””, cycles of conferences, debates and meetings with writers, thinkers and personalities about the Book, Reading and the Library, is dedicated to the literary work of the patron of the Municipal Library of Lagos. The writer Júlio Dantas will be the theme of the conference of one of the most outstanding specialists in Portuguese Literature of the 19th – 20th centuries and of Portuguese Modernism, Professor Doutor Fernando Cabral Martins, on a day full of symbolism for the Municipal Library of Lagos, as it is noted on this day the passing of another anniversary of its public opening, on November 1, 1991, in a building built from scratch, located in the area occupied by the writer’s parents’ house in Lagos.
FERNANDO CABRAL MARTINS is a professor of Portuguese Literature at Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and author of articles and books on Portuguese literature and art. He organized, presented and noted several editions of Fernando Pessoa, Mário de Sá-Carneiro, Almada Negreiros, Alexandre O’Neill and Luiza Neto (at Assírio & Alvim, from 1996), and coordinated the “Dictionary of Fernando Pessoa and Modernism Português ”, Caminho, 2008. He is the researcher responsible for the FCT project” Modernismo Online “, which deals with the construction of the digital archive of Almada Negreiros and Sarah Affonso.
