“THE LIBRARY OF LOST BOOKS. CONVERSAS QUE ARDEM ”is a new project by the Municipal Library of Lagos that aims to put the Book, Reading and the Library at the center of the discussion, through periodic conferences, debates and meetings with writers, thinkers and personalities linked to the world of culture literary and scientific. Fiery conversations are promised because they are necessarily passionate, perhaps controversial, somewhat excessive. Everything so that you are not indifferent to the importance of the Book and Reading in human life and its role in the current Information Age. Everything to affirm the relevance of the “The Library” as a cultural and affective patrimony of multiple dimensions that must be safeguarded and supported.
The opening of this project is in charge of Patrícia de Jesus Palma, an Algarvian from the Serra de S. Marcos who is dedicated to “ordering universes”: studying fragments of our cultural history nestled in sheets of paper that smell in time, deciphering maps mental hidden in faded writing by use, or bound puzzles that wait stacked in the corners of abandonment. And what it will bring us to the first meeting “THE LIBRARY OF LOST BOOKS. CONVERSAS QUE ARDEM ”is precisely a lost library: The Camões de Lagos Popular Library. To not lose.
