“New and old looks around medieval ceramics” at the Municipal Library of Tavira.
On the 14th and 15th of April, the meeting “New and old looks around medieval ceramics” will take place at the Álvaro de Campos Library.
This initiative brings together prestigious researchers from different countries, namely Portugal, Spain, Algeria, Tunisia and France, and young people who are at the beginning of their research path, in order to debate themes related to medieval ceramics and point out new paths and lines. of research.
The event, organized by the Municipality of Tavira in partnership with the research group on Islamic Ceramics from Garb al-Andalus (CIGA), the Center for Studies in Archaeology, Arts and Heritage Sciences (CEAACP/CAM) and the University of Coimbra , will be attended by the Director of the Center for Studies in Archaeology, Arts and Heritage Sciences of the University of Coimbra, Maria Conceição Lopes, and the Regional Director of Culture of the Algarve, Adriana Nogueira.
The CIGA group is a section of the Mértola Archaeological Site, made up of researchers from the Universities of Coimbra and Évora, the General Directorate of Cultural Heritage, the Municipalities of Silves, Palmela, Montemor-o-Novo and Tavira, and independent archaeologists, which is dedicated to the investigation of medieval ceramics from the western territory of the Iberian Peninsula, having published numerous scientific articles, participated in multiple specialist meetings and organized several congresses such as the one that is now publicized.
