Christmas in Tavira with online programming
Tavira, despite the current pandemic context, celebrates Christmas and the New Year with an online program aimed at the general public.
The Coral Jubilate Deo Group marks the start of this festive season with a concert, on December 5th, with online transmission, starting at 9:30 pm.
Between December 7 and January 15, Associação Baixa de Tavira promotes two pastimes to promote and encourage consumption in local businesses: Christmas raffle and “Together we make a difference in the local economy: By buying you are already winning”.
With families in mind, starting on December 8th, the Municipality’s facebook page offers an educational Christmas offer, which includes:

Day 17: “Environmentally Friendly Mediterranean Diet – Personalized Cloth Bag”
Day 21: “Christmas activity”
On December 12, at 9:30 pm, on the Municipality’s facebook page, the Algarve Jazz Orchestra performs in a quintet led by Hugo Alves, to which is added the voice of Sofia Rodrigues, Diogo Russo’s piano, Luís’s double bass Henrique and Maxi Llanos’ drums. “Natal em Tavira” brings a repertoire of the time, such as Christmas Time Is Here, White Christmas or Have Yourself a Little Merry Christmas, among others.
On the 12th and 24th of this month, from 10 am to 1 pm, downtown Tavira has Christmas activities.
On December 19th, between 10:30 am and 12:30 pm, the Al-Fanfare group, in an organization of the Baixa de Tavira Association, livens up the downtown streets. Also, on this date, from 9:30 pm, through the municipality’s facebook, the Vox Angelis concert will take place: “300 years of the most beautiful Christmas songs”.
On December 26th, also at 9:30 pm, on the municipality’s facebook page, the String Ensemble “Algarve” by the Orquestra Clásica do Sul presents “Para a Noite de Natal”, with works by Mozart and Corelli, under the direction of conductor Rui Pinheiro.
On the first day of the new year, the traditional Charola of the Musical Band of Tavira takes place, at 4 pm, via facebook.
On January 2nd, the New Year’s Concert “Happy New Year – from Beethoven to Abba”, brings works by Beethoven and Britten, to Bing Crosby, Abba, George Michael among others, in the voices of Maria João Sousa (Soprano) and Leandro Silva (bass), accompanied by Marco Fernandes and Yan Mikirtumov (percussion and piano).
Kings Day, January 6, will be marked by the concert by the Choir Groups Tavira and Unitum Voces de Loulé, at 21.30, on the municipality’s facebook page.
