Ukrainians say that on that day the large-scale Russian invasion began in Ukraine. It arrived from the north, east and south in the middle of the cold winter of 2022. In addition to the destruction of housing and infrastructure, there was an excessive number of deaths, injuries, displaced people and refugees. Life was dramatically suspended but Ukrainians proved insubmissive, willing to fight for their identity and sovereignty. No alternative, as they say. Everyone longs for the day when the guns stop, when interrupted life returns.
This photography exhibition is part of the program for the 9th edition of the DeVIR meetings, a thematic festival organized by DeVIR/CAPa, in partnership with the Municipality of Loulรฉ, which focuses on climate change and the ecological emergency.
It results from the work that RTP image reporter David Araรบjo did, while following the beginning of the Russian invasion and the advance of the war in several areas of Ukraine in 2022.
