João Ribeiro, Professional Photographer, curator, photography teacher.
Photography entered his life very early, the family photos on the walls of the house, the photo albums full of history made him start asking his mother to borrow the camera to take some pictures. At the age of 19, he entered military life in the air force and until 2005 he photographed planes and military exercises, exhibiting his work in 2004 on the occasion of the centenary of the Alcochete shooting range.
In 2012, on his own initiative, he founded the Núcleo de Amigos Fotógrafos do Algarve, which, upon completing one year of life, became a non-profit association, serving to promote photography not only in the Algarve but throughout the country.
During 2013 he joined the trainers course and acquired the CCP (Former CAP), thus starting to provide training in the area of photography and image editing.
In 2015 Starts a specialization in Digital Photography at the University of Oxford and another in Photographic Aesthetics at the MoMA (Museum of Modern Art) in New York, completing both courses in 2016. He has been a certified curator since 2012, having held dozens of group exhibitions and author, notable “Inside Deep Gardens” 2013, “PhotofineArt” 2016, “Tavira por un agujero” itinerant exhibition that, in addition to a book, has traveled throughout the Iberian Peninsula in Institutes and Universities, “Via Crucis – A Contemporary vision of Via Sacra” – 2019. Author of the Photography book “Street Photography” in 2018, Co-author
of books such as “Tavira por un Agujero”, “Photograph a Proverb” and “The Art of Photographing in Black and White”. Co-Organiser and Participating Artist at the Transfrontier Contemporary Art Fair – Gibraleon 2020 and Tavira 2021.
As a photographic artist he has participated in several exhibitions and represented Portugal in international exhibitions such as HAMASAT Saudi Arabia in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
João Ribeiro is named NATIONAL PHOTOGRAPHY AWARD in
Spain 2021, winning the XXXIII National Photography Contest of Spain in Gibraleon.
Photography is his passion, in permanent contact with nature he reveals with his photos the best that it hides. João Ribeiro looks at the teaching of Photography in a particular way, leading his trainees to feel photography in an exciting way, making the difficult seem easy and intuitive
