The Municipal Library of Faro António Ramos Rosa will promote on June 30, at 5:30 pm, in its auditorium, the presentation of the book Lenocínio VS Prostituição – A Visão dos Magistrados e Polícias, by João Cruz.
With this book, where «the victim has a voice and a face», the author intends to support women victims of domestic violence, sexual exploitation and human trafficking, with the aim of raising awareness of this phenomenon, which is always present and growing worldwide.
João Cruz has presented his book in many parts of the country and held a series of Workshops, with a view to making his proposals known and providing a clearer view of this issue.
As a result of the editing of this book and underlying research, a support and recognition project for the creation of a Mutual Aid group for victims of domestic violence, sexual exploitation and human trafficking is in progress. It is a decentralized organization that values the experienced knowledge of the phenomenon, and that allows a deeper understanding of the problems, not discarding the need for professional intervention, through the sharing of experiences and strategies to overcome the trauma, and that allows to reduce immediate feeling of isolation.
On the other hand, the purchase of this book has a solidarity aspect, since the values obtained will be channeled to the following institutions: APAV – Portuguese Association for Victim Support, Saúde em Português and CARITAS.
Corporal of the GNR in Aveiro, João Cruz holds a master’s degree in Criminology from the Faculty of Law of the University of Porto and is a trainer on the subjects of trafficking in human beings, dysfunctional children and gender equality, as well as a victim support technician.
João Cruz has prepared for release a new book on this very important topic, entitled Testimonies of victims (Stories) of Probation, Sexual Exploitation, Trafficking in Human Beings and Domestic Violence.
