Seminar RACISM IN PORTUGAL Session # 2 | "Aurora Negra, beyond the stage. Reflection on everyday racism and artistic and scientific creation as black women in Portugal" Speakers: Mélanie-Evely Pétrémont (visiting researcher at CRIA-Iscte) Cleo Tavares, Nadia Yracema, Isabél Zuaa (artistic directors of the show Aurora Negra) Moderator: Miguel Vale de Almeida (CRIA-Iscte) ------ Presentation: The second seminar on "Racism in Portugal" proposes to open a space for discussion on racism, black feminism and resistance in the arts based on the creation of the theatrical show Aurora Negra, presented in Portugal in 2020. Cleo Tavares, Isabél Zuaa and Naná Yracema will speak while artistic directors and interpreters of the show, and Mélanie-Evely Pétrémont as researcher and research supporter. Together and in the first person, we will explore the journey that this collaborative work was, questioning the co-influences between the lived experience of daily racism and gender (Essed, 1991) and the creation of new narratives and black feminist knowledge (Hill Collins, 2008) . Thus, we will question the theatrical and academic fields as spaces for the embedded production of post-colonial narratives (Noxolo, 2009) and resistance to inhabit and give them new meanings as black women. * due to the current pandemic…
