Inspired by real events associated with the refugee crisis on the border between Poland and Belarus, Green Border – Exclusion Zone follows interconnected narratives: the harrowing journey of a family of Syrian refugees who try to enter Europe through that corridor, facing violence extreme; the perspective of a Polish border guard who finds himself confronted with serious moral dilemmas upon witnessing such atrocities; the work of activists who clandestinely help these people and run serious risks. Intense and challenging, the film is a raw and stunning exploration of the humanitarian crisis and a scathing critique of Poland’s anti-refugee policies. Criticized by the Polish government and conservative sectors, Green Border – Exclusion Zone received the Special Jury Prize at the Venice Film Festival and has been internationally acclaimed (it has already been shown at the Vatican and the European Parliament).
