The Teatro das Figuras presents in concert the British musician and producer Peter Kember who, while Sonic Boom, will present the new album All Things Being Equal, a work that puts an end to a 30-year record break.
Central to the creation of truly independent music in British lands for almost four decades, Peter Kember continues today as always unperturbed to project his own vision, as idiosyncratic as open to new possibilities, always fascinating. Better known as Sonic Boom, the name that reveals his obsessions with sound as a phenomenon of mental elevation, Kember has outlined a body of work as extensive as it is enigmatic, guided by a canny and adventurous intuition capable of bringing together the history of pop, rock, drone, dance culture or experimentalism to rewrite it in new stories of influence, appeal and transversal respect. It would be what can be called a cult figure, if it were not more than that.
Immune to external trends, ‘All Things Being Equal’ does not give in to the weight of time in ten almost orchestral electronic songs born from an armada of modular and analog synthesizers. Patient craft that translates into themes full of detail, texture and hallucinatory harmonic juxtapositions under which a melodic heart throbs in reverence to the eternal melody of the Everly Brothers or Sam Cooke. What remains. Thirty years later, the same boldness and relevance as always.
