SUSANA TRAVASSOS is a singer from the Algarve who in recent years has gained international prestige, especially in Latin America. Owner of a unique interpretation and a precise voice, Susana has performed alongside artists such as Yamandu Costa, Toninho Horta, Chico Pinheiro, Chico Cesar, Zeca Baleiro, Quique Sinesi, among others. Her first album “Oi Elis” from 2008 was a tribute to Brazilian singer Elis Regina. “Tejo- Tietê” from 2013, a collaboration with Brazilian guitarist Chico Saraiva.
In 2019, he edited Pássaro Palavra, his first project of originals, recorded in the city of Buenos Aires, a project in which Susana asserts herself as a composer, in a work with a very own identity that unites fado, Latin American music and tango and translates into the universal language of jazz.
Simon Seidl, pianist, was born in Ingolstadt and lives in Cologne, he studied jazz piano with Hubert Nuss at the Cologne University of Music. At the age of ten, he received his first piano lessons. In 2007 he was awarded the “Ingolstädter Jazz Prize” and from 2007 to 2008 he was a young student at the Munich Conservatory. From 2004 to 2007 he was a multi-award winning Jugend jazzt and a member of the Bavarian State Youth Jazz Orchestra. In addition to his trio with Robert Landfermann and Fabian Arends, he acts as a sideman in several ensembles. In 2012 he won first place in the Steinway Jazz Prize for piano students from North Rhine-Westphalia. In 2013, he received his Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in jazz piano with full marks. In the following years, there was a lot of concert activity in Europe and abroad. Between 2016 and 2019 he performed as a pianist in several WDR Big Band productions. This concert “My father is a bird” is a tribute to Susana’s father, the Algarve journalist Fernando Reis, who left us a year ago. On the eve of her birthday, it will be a moving night with a very special repertoire that brings together the best pieces from Susana’s repertoire and others chosen for the occasion.
The concert will feature the special participation of Algarve guitarist André Ramos.
