Theatrical Reading Club – Elmano Sancho //
Actor Training Course at the Higher School of Theater and Cinema (ESTC). He studied in Madrid (Real Escuela Superior de Arte Dramático – RESAD), São Paulo/Brazil (School of Communications and Arts of the University of São Paulo – ECA/USP), Paris (Conservatoire National Supérieur d’Art Dramatique de Paris – CNSAD) and NY (Saratoga International Theater Institute – SITI COMPANY/Anne Bogart).
He was nominated for best theater actor at the Golden Globes with Não se Brinca com o Amor (2012), Herodíades (2013), The Inn (2014), Display (2018) and Lulu (2021) for the SPAAUTORES awards with Não se Brinca with Love (2012), The Western World Champion (2014) and Lulu (2020).
He was nominated by TimeOut magazine for best actor of the year 2012 with Herodias.
He made his debut as a director in 2014, with the show Misterman, by Enda Walsh, for which he received the best actor award from the Portuguese Society of Authors. In 2015, he staged his second show, I Can’t Breathe, at the Temps d’Images Festival, with which he received the special mention of the critics’ award from the Portuguese Association of Theater Critics (APCT).
He received a scholarship from the General Directorate of Books and Libraries for Literary Creation in 2018 with the A Sagrada Família project.
In 2018, he received the Mirpuri Carlos Avilez award with The Last Station.
In 2022, the press of the University of Coimbra published his first book I Can’t Breathe and other texts. In 2023, the second book by Elmano Sancho will be published by Teatro da Trindade/Inatel, with the three texts from the Sagrada Família.
He was nominated for the Áquila and Cineuphoria awards as best supporting actor in the series Daughter of the Law, best leading actor in the film/series Our Consul in Havana and in the film Forbidden Images.
He also has a degree in Economics from the Faculty of Economics of the University of Porto and in Translation (French / Spanish / English) from the Faculty of Social and Human Sciences of the Universidade Nova de Lisboa.
THEATER READING CLUB //
The CLT (Loulé), coordinated by Carolina Santos, takes place monthly with informal readings, aimed at professionals and non-professionals, dedicated to texts by a guest playwright/writer. The mission of dissemination, knowledge and promotion of dramaturgy is combined with mediation and audience training and invites the discussion of texts in a more informal context.
