The Theatrical Reading Club resumes in 2023 with a special session, which will be the first step of one of Mákina’s novelties of the year. The work of creation – Journey to the Center of the Earth, comes the reading, by the voice of Patricia Amaral – who is in charge of the play’s dramaturgy. We wait for your enthusiasm and for your voices to prepare the play for the premiere that already awaits.
⚙ JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH //
Otto Lidenbrock, eccentric and authoritative professor of mineralogy, discovers an ancient manuscript, written in runic. Axel, his devoted nephew, manages to decipher the message and finds himself drawn into the greatest adventure of his life. Little do they know that this discovery will take them to Iceland where, through the crater of a volcano, they will be able to descend to the center of the earth!
Inspired by Jules Verne’s “Journey to the Center of the Earth” (1872), three adults start playing with objects on a table (and when the adults start playing, anything can happen…). They unfold in characters, settings and interventions, like someone who dives into the story of a book and dreams it, to the point of not being able to distinguish manipulated from manipulator. A fun, non-condescending show for all ages.
⚙ THEATRICAL READING CLUB //
The CLT (Loulé), coordinated by Carolina Santos, takes place monthly with informal readings dedicated to texts by a guest playwright/writer. The mission of dissemination, knowledge and promotion of dramaturgy, is combined with mediation and audience training and invites the discussion of texts in a more informal context.
