As part of the University Day celebrations, the Caixa Geral de Depósitos Grand Auditorium on the Gambelas Campus will host a concert by the Orquestra do Algarve, on December 9th. Starting at 6pm, the initiative is open to the entire academic community and the general population.

The concert follows a theme that tells the story of fire as a source of light and enlightenment, culminating in one of Beethoven’s most energetic and expansive scores.
Under the direction of conductor and cellist Bruno Borralhinho, the orchestra will perform works by authors such as Frederick Delius, Joseph Haydn and Ludwing Van Beethoven.

Bruno Borralhinho is one of the most acclaimed Portuguese names in Europe, where his career alternates between the podium and the cello. Based in Germany, Borralhinho performed concerts to enormous critical acclaim and usually develops his activity in Portugal with the National Symphony Orchestra or Gulbenkian Orchestra. This will be his debut in the Algarve and an unmissable occasion for any music lover.

Entrance to the concert is free, but is subject to room capacity.
