Exhibition “Bem-Vinda Sejas Amália” – Integrated in the Commemorations of the Day of the City of Portimão.
2020 is the year that marks the 100th anniversary of the birth of Amália Rodrigues and the itinerant exhibition arrives in Portimão, integrating the national program of Commemorations of the Centenary of the Birth of Amália, with the High Sponsorship of the President of the Republic, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa .
The life of the acclaimed Diva do Fado is celebrated in this exhibition in four modules, showing the different facets of Amália. “From the echo of world success that has not always arrived in Portugal, due to its avant-garde and artistic boldness, to the modesty of its dressing room. Not forgetting the lesser known curiosities of his career ”.
“Bem-Vinda Sejas Amália” intends to make known the singularity of Amália’s figure, as a woman and artist. “Cosmopolitan – a constant presence in the most important concert halls in the world – and sensitive, in the countryside picking wild flowers”.
The title “Welcome to be Amália” is an allusion to the affectionate way it was received by the Portuguese military in Mozambique, in 1969, when it went to sing for the war wounded. The phrase, then written on a poster, registered by RTP for posterity, was being replicated at other times and in other contexts, in his numerous tours through the country and abroad.
The exhibition can be visited until January 10, 2021.
