WHAT IS THE ART OF PERFORMANCE?
Conference | Small Auditorium of Teatro das Figuras
May 24, Tuesday, 6:00 pm
Duration: 120 minutes
Age rating: over 6 years old
Prices: free entry, subject to room capacity
The Art of Performance continues to be a liquid and gaseous territory, therefore ambivalent and very prone to misuse in the classification of performative actions that, in the uncertainty of their labeling, are immediately stamped as performances. The plurality of understandings of the term and its practices will be the starting point of this round table.
What are we talking about, then, when we talk about performance? This question is common and has not been definitively answered, since talking about what is or is not performance and its respective operations, hence its definition, has always been and will be problematic, given its idiosyncrasies and mutations. Even if it is not contested, it is not accepted without hesitation: “Performance is dead! Long live to performance!”
The arrival point will be unpredictable. You have to be to know if we’ll get anywhere…
