End of the 70s. On the shores of Lake Geneva is Vevey, a small Swiss village. Upon leaving prison, Eddy – a 40-year-old Belgian alcoholic – is welcomed by his friend Osman. The two reach an agreement: Osman welcomes him into his home and, in exchange, Eddy will take care of Samira, Osman’s 7-year-old daughter, while his mother is in the hospital. But, in the middle of the Christmas season, the lack of money makes itself felt and Eddy becomes bitter. When Charlie Chaplin’s death is announced on television, as well as the value of his enormous fortune, Eddy has an idea: what if they steal the actor’s corpse and demand a ransom from his family? Loosely based on real events, La Rançon de la Gloire revolves around the audacious creation of a resurrected Charlie Chaplin, whose soul will gradually possess the spirit of these two misfits, until the moment when the intrigue becomes worthy of a short story. from Charlotte himself!
