This festival already has nine editions that took place between the years 2000 and 2019. They gave rise to a CD and four DVDs. He returns again this year for its 10th edition with Cineteatro Louletano to receive several tunas in competition, in a night that is expected of a lot of music, good mood and academic spirit.
The Tuna Universitária Afonsina de Loulé is a tuna where the elements belonging are exclusively male, thus respecting the old tradition of student troubadour. This project started in mid-November 1999 with some ideas formed by members of TUNAAF – Tuna Académica Dom Afonso III. These ideas were finally realized in a meeting carried out by five students: Carlos Viegas, Emiliano Silva, Hugo Lopes, João Rodrigues and Júlio Guerreiro. This meeting took place on December 1, 1999, when TUALLE was founded, in one of the most emblematic cafés in the city of Loulé, where the well-known poet Aleixo used to recite his poems, Café Calcinha. From this meeting was born the Great Council, the founding entity of Tuna.
With the precious help of friend Jorge Semião, rehearsals began and on March 19, 2000, TUALLE had its first official performance in Vilamoura. Since then, Tuna has presented several shows at renowned festivals in the most diverse regions of Portugal, from the Algarve to the Alentejo, Estremadura, Beiras, Azores and Madeira. With its academic spirit and through music, it brings the joy and good mood of the Algarve to all corners, raising the name of the city of Loulé very high.
