“Mystery of Culture” is, in principle, about culture, art and its models of production, representation and support, but you never know. It is a network of motivations, a dancing bureaucratic thriller, an enigma of decades to be unraveled. What mysterious has happened or will happen during this process of creation was or will be completely alien to our will and our transparency. What remains of the initial desire to do a show? What don’t you see when you watch a play? Someone said or will say during a “Mystery of Culture” broadcast: “Sometimes I pass by the theater door and I remember that a few meters away from me is a group of people sitting looking at a stage feeling the time in another way . Conservatório de Portimão Joly Braga Santos This is a fun introduction to instruments children can play at a young age, specially designed for 3-6 year olds. Each week, we will sing and play musical games. During the five week class, the children will listen to me, a professional, play the violin, cello, piano and guitar, and develop pre-instrumental skills. They will also have the chance to play a child size instrument themselves (strings) and a baby grand piano! This experience will help them choose their favorite instrument. Parents attend the class and will learn what is involved in the study of each instrument. 35€ for the course, due at registration.
Fernando Leal was born in the Azores, on the island of S. Miguel, at the age of nine he left for the Algarve without knowing it was a one-way trip. Later he entered the music conservatory in Olhão, where he took singing lessons to perfect his vocal technique. At the age of 17 he started playing in bars gaining new experiences. In 2018 he recorded his first album, “Na Primeira Pessoa”, an autobiographical disc, with twelve themes in Portuguese of his authorship, ranging from pop-rock to light music, drinking influences in big names such as Jorge Palma and Rui Veloso.
Fado singer Cuca Roseta’s new album is a tribute to Amália Rodrigues (1920-1998) and who recognizes influence on her journey. The desire to sing Amália came from behind, but it ended up materializing for this year if we celebrate the centenary of the birth of Amália Rodrigues. In Loulé, Cuca brings the album “Cuca Canta Amália”, a musical sharing between Cuca Roseta and the musicians who accompany her. The themes are the same as Cuca has always sung in Amália’s repertoire and which are still part of the lineup of her shows. Among them, two fados with lyrics by Amália Rodrigues, “A Lágrima”, music by Carlos Gonçalves, and “Estranha Forma de Vida”, interpreted in the melody of Fado Bailado, by Alfredo Marceneiro. The fado singer decided not to choose only traditional fados and that is why the album includes two marches, the Centenário, a creation by Maria Clara, in 1940, which Amália recorded, and a “Marcha da Mouraria”. The album also includes “Ai, Mouraria”, “Fado Malhoa”, “Fadista Louco”, “Vagamundo”, “Com Que Voz” and “Barco Negro”. Cuca, who has already published three albums, recently released the book “Cem poemas de Cuca Roseta”.

Enoch Arden – Melodrama for Richard Strauss’ narrator and piano on Tennyson’s poem Basically the definition of melodrama refers to a work, or part of it, in which the text is recited about music. Although some operas have moments of melodrama – Fidelio or The woman without a shadow, for example – several composers dedicated whole works to this musical practice. In 1896/97, Strauss composed the melodrama Enoch Arden, for voice and piano, on Tennyson’s text. The work is located between the symphonic poems Thus spoke Zarathustra of 1896, and D. Quixote of 1897 and, like these, it can already be considered a work of maturity for a composer with 33 years old who still had a long and creative career with your front. It was with Enoch Arden that Strauss achieved a resounding success at the time, even greater than that achieved with symphonic poems, having made numerous tours with his dedicator, Ernst von Possart, actor and theater director. Enoch Arden is one of the longest existing melodramas and one of the best built. The theme reminds us of Ulysses and Robinson Crusoe, but the melancholy of the sailor who loses and finds his family again formed, judging him […]
Serena Serenade 1. A balcony 2. A twisted neck 3. Ears with heart In other words: a balcony is needed, because a serenade on the ground floor loses a lot of feedback. Then, let the neck of the singer lend itself to twisting a lot, so that the voice reaches the balcony cool as a lettuce. And finally, that whoever is up there has a heart beyond the ears. This is for a normal serenade! But for a Serene Serenade of the Opera IT, we cannot think so linearly. We started by arranging a nomadic balcony that is now in Sicily, now in Venice, now in Naples. Then there are three twisted necks, because with three necks the twisting allows for much tastier harmonies. And finally … what is behind the curtain that lights up with the sailors singing? As we well know, we do not always know what we are going to. But perhaps this is the fascination with almost everything: we go fishing – what will we fish today? Let’s serenate – will the window light come on? Hmmm… clouds – Do I take an umbrella or not? The challenge of the uncertain and the mystery of discovery […]

After “A Freguesia”, with dramaturgy and staging by Ricardo Neves-Neves (in 2017), a show that ended the program commemorating the 100th anniversary of the parish of Quarteira, Cineteatro directed a new invitation to Teatro Do Eléctrico for the creation of a a show based on a theme from the municipality of Loulé: the Mother Sovereign. “Soberana” is a show with text by Ana Lázaro, staged by Ricardo Neves-Neves and musical direction by Rita Nunes, about the history and worship of the Mother Soberana de Loulé, which is celebrated annually on Easter Day (Festa Pequena) and two weeks later (Festa Grande). “As soon as I started researching the Sovereign Mother, I realized that more than a religious, cultural and historical manifestation, this is, like the genetic and intrinsic bond that links the Mother with her son, part of a collective body, of identity of a people. The affiliation of the Louletanos to their Mother is lost in time and space, is rooted in the blood, in the cycles of the seasons, in the daily struggle, in the joy and pain that they live, under an odd intimate connection of protection and complicity. In a relationship of affection deeply divine, and at […]

Tomaz Cabreira exercised his socio-political activities in very difficult times, with difficulties of different kinds: economic, financial, war and pandemic. After 100 years we have lived a similar situation, not yet of war, but we see the emergence of extremist positions which bodes ill for a future that we all want freedom, equality and more fraternal.

They decided to tell his dirty secrets in a controlled environment, live, like it was a big show. A biographic retrospective thru the main moments in the life of Bruno Aleixo, with unprecedented videos, old videos (where his bad temper is showing) and also testimonies from friends, family and oppressed personalities. But there is also the right to contradict: the favorable testimonies (maybe bought, who knows?) will have their own moment, so that the audience can decide which side to take.

The Sagrada Família, a rectangular wooden box containing the images of Joseph, Mary and Jesus, is a small portable oratory. On the left side door, the names of the subscribers who intend to welcome her home and follow the teachings of the Nazaré family are written. The cult dates back to the 15th century and exists in residual form in some villages in the country. This oratory is the scenic element common to the three texts that make up The Holy Family by Elmano Sancho: José, the father; Maria, the mother; Jesus, the son. Maria, the mother, according to a text in the family trilogy, is a text about loss, pain, loneliness, old age, forgetfulness and death.

A few years ago, the celebrated sage Sarastronauta decided to move to a space station, hoping to have the peace and quiet necessary for his incessant search for wisdom. The trick he found to attract men into his world of virtue and wisdom was to create a character called Papageno. Like the original Papageno, it is also captivating due to its fun way of being and talking. His disguise as Papageno is so perfect that not even Pamina, Sarastronaut’s own daughter, recognizes him. This double personality also allows him to obtain precious information from his daughter Pamina regarding his mother, the Queen of the Night. When Tamino appears on the scene, Papageno is precisely with Pamina, and his fascination with the girl is immediate. Trying to know where to find her, Papageno shows her the way to the Orbital Station where she lives with her father, the great sage Sarastronauta. That is, himself. Sarastronaut will not miss this opportunity to bring with him another human soul in need of salvation by wisdom. And you will also find an exquisite son-in-law. Artistic and Technical Sheet Text and Staging: Mário João Alves Interpreters: Gabriel Neves – Tamino (singer / actor), Paulina Machado […]

The theme reminds us of Ulysses and Robinson Crusoe, but the melancholy of the sailor who loses and finds his family again formed, judging him […]
Carlos Bica _ double bass Daniel Erdmann _ tenor saxophone DJ Illvibe _ turntable João Paulo Esteves da Silva _ piano A double bass, a saxophone, a pair of record players and a piano. It will be in the light of this unusual formation that Beethoven’s legacy over the 250th anniversary of his birth in 2020 will be reinvented. But how to recreate Beethoven’s work while it is perfect? Carlos Bica’s “romantic” and especially melodic approach, which drinks simultaneously with jazz, classical music and popular tradition in Portugal, combines with elegant and very free discourse, although not guided by the canons of the so-called free jazz , by Daniel Erdmann, with the many colors summoned by DJ Illvibe (Vincent von Schlippenbach), a gold digger looking for the craziest fragments of sounds, a manic DJ, and with João Paulo Esteves da Silva, owner of a fascinating musicality that crosses jazz language with a strong and unique Portuguese sensibility. Together they accepted the challenge of Cineteatro Louletano to rediscover Beethoven’s work, giving it a new existence. Duration: 70 minutes Age rating: M / 12 Tickets on sale soon
This new production was born out of the desire to continue working on the great classics, continuing the work developed with “Lago dos Cisnes”; and “Sagração da Primavera” by Daniel Cardoso, relating them to today’s life and society. This time the choreographer takes on the challenge of presenting a new creation inspired by “Romeo and Juliet”, one of Shakespeare’s best-known works, and undoubtedly one of the most revisited classics in the history of dramatic literature. Perhaps because Love – in its romantic and absolute conception – that which is unconditional, transcendent and redemptive, continues to be the target of research, astonishment and restlessness. This unexplained place that rescues the most violent emotions, the most overwhelming changes, the most decisive actions. In this approach, it seeks to challenge the centrality of Romeo and Juliet: multiplied in a contemporary vision, in an arena in which everyone, without exception, becomes Romeo and Juliet. In a universe where individually, all men and women intersect in some way in the symbolic journey of these characters, and experience different ways of loving. Also noteworthy is the notion of randomness, or destiny, in this great stage of the social sphere, in which the encounter of genuine Love […]

The Odder Sideshow intends to rescue secular circus techniques, from the golden age of the great Traditional Circuses, but which fell into disuse due to the risk they imply, namely: the throwing of knives, Fire Swallow, Escapism, Blockhead, Juggling with chainsaw and balance on machetes (…) and interconnect them with clown technique and physical theater. This show seeks to reflect on the emotional sadomasochism of contemporary society’s relationships as a binding link for the circus techniques used.
