The Sítio das Fontes de Estômbar is one of the most popular leisure areas in the municipality of Lagoa for those who enjoy contact with nature.
Located on the left bank of the River Arade, it has always functioned as a kind of river beach where the people of Estômbar often went for a swim, picnics and moments of rest and socializing.
In 1989, the 18-hectare space was acquired by the Câmara de Lagoa, which recovered the tide mill, the miller’s house and added some spaces, such as the small building that serves as reception, the guardhouse, the toilets, the amphitheater, the picnic area, the maintenance circuit and a small dock and converted an old rural building into an Interpretation Center for Nature.
The municipality also planted or transplanted hundreds of trees, delimited paths and parking lots, installed infrastructures and built dams.
As a consequence, the space became more and more known and desirable and began to attract an increasing number of people, most of whom from other Algarve counties and also many tourists.
One of the most desirable spaces is the picnic area, which, despite being extensive, especially in summer, becomes small to welcome all those who want to have a meal there outdoors, with family or friends.
At a musical level, the Parque do Sítio das Fontes is, above all, known for its amphitheater hosting the Lagoa Jazz Fest, which has brought some of the most prestigious names in this area, both national and foreign.
On the 5th, 6th and 7th of October, the Sítio das Fontes Municipal Park, in Estômbar, will host the show “𝗔 (𝗗𝗲𝘀)𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗰̧𝗮̃𝗼 𝗱𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗮̃𝗼”, a production by Ber/Liner Production House. Preceding this show is the documentary “Привіт з раю! / Оthere from Paradise!” Synopsis: Using loose sentences by Agostinho da Silva, Mia Couto, Afonso Cruz or Lewis Carroll, we embark on this journey that takes us from the creation of Man to the moment of his extinction. Could this be God’s secret plan? Whatever it is? We are considered the living beings with the greatest capacity for rationality, yet the only ones with the species’ capacity for self-destruction. Why? “𝗔 (𝗗𝗲𝘀)𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗰̧𝗮̃𝗼 𝗱𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗮̃𝗼” is a bilingual show (Portuguese and English) and is part of the cultural program of the celebrations of the 250th anniversary of the Municipality of Lagoa. Tickets for each of the sessions of this show cost €𝟴 and are now on sale at: https://cmlagoa.bol.pt/ and at the box offices of CTT, Fnac, Worten, Auditorium Carlos do Carmo, Centro Cultural Convento de S. José and Lagoa City Council’s Single Counter. Program: 19:00 – “Привіт з раю! / Оthere from Paradise!” (documentary) 8:30 pm – “𝗔 (𝗗𝗲𝘀)𝗖𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗰̧𝗮̃𝗼 𝗱𝗲 𝗔𝗱𝗮̃𝗼” […]
