Description
Synopsis
The play, built around the narrator's memories and judgments about the contemporary world, proposes, starting from the depopulation and desertification of the interior – as recounted by him – and the death of the mountain villages, a reflection on the primitive bonds that united man to the land.
Cities have become economic centers offering job opportunities and more attractive salaries. They concentrate a wide range of services, such as hospitals, schools, universities, cultural centers, public transport, and leisure, which has made urban life more convenient for most people. They provide contact with different cultures and experiences through the offer of a vibrant cultural life, with museums, theaters, cinemas, festivals, and events. These arguments have become a "siren song" that has caused the villages to bleed. Communities, subjected to precarious and harsh lives, did not resist the call of the cities, and with their exodus, their gestures, an ancestral relationship between man and nature, were lost.
Through small stories of everyday life in an imaginary place, the play seeks to reflect on tensions provoked in territories that still resist the tensions caused by technological advances and the almost complete adoption of the rules and laws of consumer societies. In contrast to the vigor of coastal cities, the play explores the human silence of the interior, aging, and solitude. It addresses the tensions between memory, tradition, and the future. The emptying that the play proposes is understood not as a final sentence, but as a transition that corresponds to the same circular movement of the seasons. It is a journey through humanity's time. Silence, old age, and ruins are the space where another tomorrow will be built.
