Requiem for a Van

The show “Requiem for a Van” will be the last day of life of the Citroen Berlingo van with license plate 37-AS-14. This cargo van was born in 2005, the daughter of an appliance company, and lived with her biological parents until she was 8 years old. After this period, it was adopted by LAMA Teatro. For four years she did only what she was destined to do: carry stage equipment. In 2017, it was “christened” and transformed into the show Carripana and traveled to around 300 places spread across Portugal. In 2020, it gained a second name and, in turn, another personality, another show, À Babuja, traveling to many other places.

The van itself has shown signs of fatigue, heading out for its final walk.

We respect her signs and will place her in the burning chamber at the Teatro das Figuras, where the performers themselves will tell a little of her life story and will later be responsible for her downfall, accompanied by the Community Choir of the Orquestra do Algarve. This show will be unique and unrepeatable.
