With the expulsion of the Moriscos from Spain in the 17th century to North Africa, Andalusí music spread throughout the Maghreb and evolved differently under different names: Al-Alâ (Morocco), Gharnâtî (Algeria) and Ma`luf ( Tunisia and Libya).
THE AL-QARAWIYIN ORCHESTA intends to transport the spectator on a sonic journey, through the Andalusian cultured music that has echoed for centuries in the most cultured and sophisticated places in al-Andalus.
