“Sopro” exhibition by C.atarina Figueiredo and Rita Borralho Silva Gallery Praça do Mar – Quarteira March 11th to April 29th Opening March 11th – 6pm The association Alfaia – arte e Comunidade, with the support of the Municipality of Loulé, launched an open call aimed at young visual artists for an Artistic Residency that took place during the month of January this year, in this municipality. Catarina and Rita were the artists selected by the jury, made up of elements from the Municipality, the University of the Algarve and Alfaia. C.atarina Figueiredo presented the project “Respiraestórias”, in which the artist invited a group of women residing in the municipality of Loulé to participate through an act of sharing around their experiences on the act of breathing. Breathing also brings with it a whole history laden with healing powers, self-control and self-knowledge. However, we pay little attention to this act in our daily lives and imagine that this is a place reserved only for Others, in distant rituals. What if we brought to the space of the atelier, the gallery, the exhibition, a dressing disguised as experimentation?
