Synopsis: Ideias do Levante (www.ideiasdolevante.net) and the Municipality of Lagoa (www.cm-lagoa.pt, Algarve) organize, from the 15th to the 22nd of May 2022, the twenty-second edition of the Choral Week of Lagoa, including the project “Lagoa a Cantar” and with the participation of the following formations: Slavey Quartet, Jubilate Deo Choir (Tavira), Grupo Coral da Sociedade Filarmónica Silvense, Coral Feminino Outros Vozes (Faro, Algarve) and Coral Ideias do Levante (Lagoa , Algarve).
The Semana Coral de Lagoa is, according to José Carlos Bago d’Uva (mentor of the initial project), a meeting open to the sharing of musical experiences and unforgettable moments of conviviality, it is the annual occasion in which the Municipality of Lagoa makes sound “the 4 voices” or (en)/singing of vocal polyphony, by “Levante” lands. For José Carlos, this date already represents a milestone in the circuit of choral events in our country, which he is proud to have contributed to its genesis. Many have already left their voices “deposited” in the mythical cistern of the Convento de S. José (in the first editions…) and also those who have contributed to enhance the city’s auditorium, making their emotions heard through the repertoire choir who work with dedication and enthusiasm.
The 2022 edition will include the “Lagoa a Cantar” project with the aim of providing various singing workshops (for various levels) and master classes. The concerts in the religious spaces are free of charge, except for the concert by the Slavey Quartet, on May 22, at the Carlos do Carmo Auditorium.
