This photography exhibition appears as part of the defense and appreciation of traditional Xávega Art in Meia Praia. Each moment is revealed in a body, a posture, a face. The image of the painting is born from the fusion of these three elements and their unitary synthesis creates the mystical parameter, specific to each work.” Luís Lemos presents a strongly sensual and engaging path and aesthetics around the human body. His painting assumes a connection to “wild neo-expressionism” and “bad-painting”, an American figurative painting trend from the 1970s, classified by critic and curator Marcia Tucker. With works produced from 1983 to the present and jumping from one aesthetic line to another, Luís Lemos paints large patches with primary paints in which color becomes the structuring form of balance in each painting, assuming with coherence and audacity an uncomplex, irreverent language. and even some disregard for the canons of good taste, in which the deformation of the figure is intentional and not a technical incompetence on the part of the artist.
